Get Involved

Get Involved at St. Nicholas!

Volunteering involves you in your child's education. The time and talents donated by parent volunteers make a significant contribution to our school's high quality of education. In addition to daily opportunities, various fundraisers are held throughout the year and require volunteers to make them possible.

Volunteer Policy

We require 15 hours of volunteer time per family.  Parents can volunteer time at school or take projects home.  Additionally, we ask each family to volunteer some of their 15 hours towards one of the five fundraisers (St. Nicholas Catholic School Auction & Gala - formerly the Harvest Hoedown, School Carnival, Basque Dinner, Jog-a-Long, or Golf Scramble).   Families track their own volunteer time.  Please download a Volunteer Log and submit upon completion of volunteer time.  Families can also buy out some or all of their volunteer hours at $10 per hour. Families not fulfilling their time will be billed at the end of the school year. Please view the Family Handbook for the complete Volunteer Policy.

Safe Environment Workshop for Volunteers

As required by the Diocese of Boise, any person volunteering in the classroom, on field trips, or having regular contact with students must complete a Safe Environment Workshop and undergo a background check. The Safe Environment Workshop is offered by the school throughout the year.   Volunteers are asked to pay $15 toward the background check.  For the full diocesan safe environment policy, visit the Diocesan Office of Child, Youth and Adult Protection at www.catholicidaho.org

Fundraising

Fundraising is essential to the economic security of St. Nicholas Catholic School.  Money raised throughout the school year supports the every day running of our school. Each family has a responsibility to participate in fundraising. Click here for detailed information on each of the fundraisers.

Gift Card Program

As a viable means of reducing your own tuition costs and raising funds for our school, gift cards to a variety of local and national businesses are available for purchase in the school office. Parents are expected to purchase a minimum of $50 per month. Half of the rebate percentage will be credited to your tuition statement and half will go to the school. There are no purchase or activation fees associated with our gift cards. If you purchase a $25 gift card, you get $25 to spend on purchases.

The school is also linked with Smiths and Target for kickback rewards, and collects Boxtops for Education, Campbell's Soup Labels, and foil drink pouches (like CapriSun) as a means of fundraising.
