Third Grade/Fourth Grade

Classroom News

Week 4

Welcome to week 4!  We have already been in school for a month.  We are into our routine and enjoying school.  This week is the school carnival on Saturday.  We will be holding it in the afternoon this year to so that the families with morning and evening commitments on Saturdays can still attend and enjoy the fun!  The PTC has been working hard on this and it should be a great afternoon.  We will be conducting MAP testing over the next two weeks.  This test at the begriming of the year is to help of measure growth form last year and will help us see progress in the spring.  Please make sure your child has a good night's sleep and a good breakfast.

Spelling lists:

We have two spelling lists in our class a blue list (third grade level) and a purple list (fourth grade level)  for the moment all the third grade students are learning and being tested on the blue list and the fourth graders are working from the purple list.  This is a fluid situation based on student need.  If a student receives a 100% of five consecutive spelling tests we will look at moving them into a more challenging list. I also have a yellow list that is a mix of sixth and seventh grade level words.

Important dates to remember:

Saturday September 16-PTC carnival

Favorite Bible Verse:  "Choose you this day whom you will serve.... But as for me and my house, we will serve The Lord." Joshua 24:15

I am blessed for the opportunity to bring God into my classroom at St. Nicholas.  I believe that all children have God-given potential and I love to work with students and families to reach that potential.  I am excited to form an educational team with students, parents and teachers to enhance children's education at St. Nicholas and assist in setting up students for success in their future.
