Second Grade - Mrs. Packham

Classroom News

Update for September 17, 2018

Hope you enjoyed the carnival and had an excellent weekend!

This week is the beginning of normal homework.  Hopefully we are adjusting into the routine of reading 20 minutes, 10-15 minutes on math, and 10-15 minutes on language arts.

We will be doing our first at-home writing tonight.  The students will need to fill in the graphic organizer with a topic sentence and ideas about it.  We will write about our family.  The topic sentence will determine what we will write about.  Kindness is our theme this month so kindness in our family would be a possibility.  Sentences would be nice, but we will be editing these for publishing on Thursday.  Keep it simple.

We will be map testing -reading - on Wednesday.  As always a good night's sleep and great breakfast help.

Please study the spelling words listed with your student.  They take a pre-test on Monday and bring home a paper that could be used for practice.  You will see their spelling tests, along with the other tests, coming home soon.

I made the book order today.

Have a great week.  Thanks for all you do!  And God Bless you!

Favorite Bible Verse:  Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you:  not as the world giveth, give I unto you.  Let not your heart be troubled neither let it be afraid."  John 14:29

My faith in God is and has always been the foundation in my life.  I believe God wants us to grow and to learn.  What an opportunity to be able to teach at a wonderful school like St. Nicholas where I can help children know how important they are to God as part of their education.
