UPDATE for September 18, 2107

It seems we have been in school for a while and yet we are still just beginning.  This Friday when we tested, we took a vocabulary test along with our spelling and comprehension test for reading.  We again took a math test.  We deserve a pat on the back, our scores were excellent.  Please keep studying those spelling and vocabulary words with your child.  It improves their test scores and impacts their reading.

PLEASE READ with your child everyday.  It truly is the best thing you can do for them this year.

We have completed the language arts and math MAP tests.  This week we test our reading.  This is the hardest test and we should be taking it on Wednesday.  Please make sure your child comes to school rested and ready.  IRI tests will happen this week as well.

You will be seeing more book orders.  The other ones have been placed and should arrive this week.  I will place these orders as October begins.  Again, let me know if I should keep these a secret (as in gifts).

I am looking for parents or grandparents that would be willing to committ regular time to read with second grade students.  This is needed especially Tuesday and Wednesday from 10 to 11 am.  Another time would be from 1:30 to 2:45 pm on Thursday.   Your Help Would Really Make a Difference.

Second grade is a great place to be.  I have a wonderful group of children.  Thanks for sharing them with me.  God Bless You.   Mrs. Packham

Favorite Bible Verse:  Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you:  not as the world giveth, give I unto you.  Let not your heart be troubled neither let it be afraid."  John 14:29

My faith in God is and has always been the foundation in my life.  I believe God wants us to grow and to learn.  What an opportunity to be able to teach at a wonderful school like St. Nicholas where I can help children know how important they are to God as part of their education.
